The diversity of the narrative media examined reflects the broad scope of attention management as a field of research. The studies cover literary novels, films, picturebooks, comics, and genre-specific works, addressing topics that range from the role of attentional focus in structuring narrative meaning to the division of attention between visual and textual media, and the cognitive consequences of directing or diverting attention.
